I have decided to go the old fashioned route and buy a transformer based mig.
I used an Oxford 330 amp I-mig, and the only problem I had was the rather cold starts to
the welds.
This welder was strongly built and I liked it, it did more than well on my single
phase supply, never tripped where some other smaller migs did trip.
I would like a separate wire feed this time, so I looked at the Oxford s-mig range
because it has a separate feeder.
But information regarding this series is not a clear as the I-mig specifications.
The I-mig is described as industrial, where as the s-mig seems to have the same
duty cycle, but not a peep in the description regarding industrial rated.
The s-mig is also synergic in that when the voltage is set, the wire automatically
adjusts to the voltage. Does anyone know if you can still turn the wire feed up or
down to tune the welder to the job at hand.
Technical said a soft start could be fitted to the s-mig, does anyone know what
this soft start is, is it a motor ramp, or something else.
Any info from sellers or users of the s-mig 330 or s-mig 360 welcomed, thanks.
