Welcome to the forum, depends what work you are doing is it car body? or would you like to weld thicker material? all the welders you have mentioned will do a job depends on your work
Where did 'Butters UK' suddenly spring from? It doesn't appear to be anything to do with Butters AMT .
Do they use Butters internals in their own cases, hence the 'butters technology' logo?
Just as i bought mine, the guy i got it off said that there were rumours of people leaving Butters to make their own business. Dont know if there was any truth in it though.
That could explain it, if it is them then maybe they source their parts from the same places as butters hence the 'butters technology' tag. I think I'd still rather spend my money with Butters though, a more established company and having dealt with them myself their support is first rate. A member on here recently bought a Butters AC/DC tig from a dealer, took it somewhere else to have a footpedal fitted which didn't go according to plan but Butters still replaced the machine under warranty even though it had been butchered about.
Now that's service!
Being a butters main agent I am a bit confused? I deal with this company for some spares and wire feeders etc but he goes under the name sprint sales so not sure
All Butters named company's are loosely based around the original machines (and very good they were too) which were made by Norman Butters. Any Butters machines which are now bought from Butters AMT or Butters UK etc have nothing to do with the original company as far as I know.....(although I maybe wrong) maybe one of the Butters agents can shed some light on that.
And as for 'Butters technology' inside, what does that mean? With Standard transformer migs, there are only 3 main components in any machine of any make, Transformer, Rectifier and a choke. The technology for which is about 30 yrs old.
Also look out for another 'Butters' offshoot, which will be selling more imported machines.
I seem to remember Bob Burns telling me when Butters AMT was formed, they were the only one allowed to use the name by the owner.
Maybe someone from Butters can clarify?
BUTTERS is a registered trade mark for use on welding and cutting equipment.
The ONLY licenced users of the BUTTERS trade mark are BUTTERS AMT Ltd and, through them, their five manufacturing partners in Europe.
It is trade mark infringement for anyone to use the BUTTERS trademark without the consent of the owner. (me)
Therefore any party other than BUTTERS AMT Ltd using the BUTTERS name on welding equipment is infringing this trade mark.
Butters soft arc technolgy refers to the transformer and choke being made of copper, they state they use more copper in the choke to produce a soft arc output, as to offshoots of butters amt I am not aware of any employees leaving, I think people are jumpin on the bandwagon after all the hard work butters amt and there partners have put in to establish a brand of good quality machines at a fair price in the market place, because butters has been going so long it will have quite a few ex employees who think they can profit from somebodys hard work, I set diy welding up purely as a internet supplier of welding equipment, 6 months later diyland set up selling welding machines the law on the internet is not the same as in business

Not licenced to buttersuk.co.uk see buttersamt.com
Seems like ButtersAMT are long gone, but Buttersuk are still manufacturing, so clearly they have the right to use the name, I have tried a weld wizard and it is a good quality machine
