A little back story. First and foremost, I'm a complete novice who is a fast learner, lightly read into theory but need hands on and is willing to put all the time and effort it will take to become a decent welder. I do not want to buy a cheap hobby welder to then regret immediately or buy a stupidly expensive one that I'll never need. I've done about one metre of weld in my life and I have just acquired a large space that will become my workshop. I need to make a tone of decently thick, hammerable and sturdy workbenches/shelves and in very distant future I will want to build a 6x4x4 metre blast room in there.
Other than making all the benches my workshop is going to mainly revolve around cars and classic car restoration, however the MIG is only going to be used for the chassis and structural projects (probably only mild steel) and I'll buy and learn TIG welding for panels and thinner metals and stainless. I could probably spend only upwards of 1-hour welding at a time because I work two jobs (push to 2 on weekends).
I want this welder to do pretty much anything, I don't mind 3 phase, I work in a pub, so I have access to 100% c02 for the cheap. After very little research over the matter I've come across the Oxford Migmaker 240-1 Mig welder. Which would come up to around £700. But would spend more with convincing and less with no convincing at all.
Sorry for the unoriginal boring question and thank you for your time!
