Hi All,
I've been lurking on the forum for a while and I see there is lots of good advice and help.
I'm after some pointers (options) on what I need to buy or have to collect together to make up an TIG argon hose for connection between the flowmeter and the welder. I'm brand new to TIG so I'm not sure what options are available. Hopefully this is easy for you guys!
I've ordered a regulator (one of these https://www.weldequip.com/argon-regulator-se.htm?cat2=24) and a 0-14 LPM flowmeter from weldequip.com (support the forum hey!) https://www.weldequip.com/flowmeter.htm?cat2=24 which is arriving tomorrow. Hopefully that's all correct. I will probably be getting a rent free bottle from SGS soon too.
On the back of the welder is a barbed connector (pictures below) with just a couple of ridges. The connector looks to be about 8mm or 5/16 (?) in diameter for the barbs, 7mm (approx.) for the OD, 5mm (approx.) for the ID. I honestly don't know where you measure to identify the part.
I'll most likely be storing the welder away when not using as I'm just a hobbyist trying out TIG for the first time but I'd like it to be easy to setup when I have a job to do.
So ideally a quick connector or similar is what I'm thinking. Something of decent quality that won't cause leakage headaches. I'm not sure if I'd like the idea of a hose just pushed on and secured with a jubilee clip or similar - I think there may be better options out there? I do have some spring band hose clips though if that's the only option.
I'd also need to know what is decent hose (maybe 1.5m approximately in length) would be including what internal and external diameters I should be looking for.
Thanks in advance!
