Hi,
I've just acquired a butters amt 180amp TIG / stick dc inverter welding set and the TIG function is not working on it.
I've done the following to find out why but am now stuck,
Checked the stick function works - no problems
Checked voltage across stick terminals when switched to TIG - no voltage so presuming switch is working fine.
Earth in correct place - yes
Both lines on the TIG torch connected - yes, gas solenoid / torch button and gas line (only 2 lines so presuming the current runs down the gas line)
Checked the button on the torch works - yes, did this by taking the plug off the machine and put a multi meter across the terminals to check continuity when button pressed.
Any ideas what is wrong with it?
Also, I'm ok to use air products feromaxx 7 gas or should I change to pure shield. Also have a Mig unit so would be good to have gas to do both, if that’s possible.
Cheers
Duncan
