Building a website

We spend a lot of time out and about and friends often ask me about places, so I was thinking of putting some of them and the routes we drive on a website.
I have purchased the name but need some thoughts on hosting etc.
One kind photographer is letting me use a few images as long as its not for profit but I do wonder how would some one make money from a website like this?
So any top tips?

Consider using a web host that offers WordPress as the web design tool. It's relatively easy to use, and lends itself well to the "what we did on our holidays" sort of thing. As for hosts, GoDaddy.com, and webhosting.uk.com are a couple to consider. Both offer WordPress. Go into the pricing, too. The given "starting from" prices per month can soon stack up with little extras.

I use fasthosts for domain an hosting on a number of sites, works well, has a good control panel, and supports one-click install of wordpress.

Use WordPress for the cms. As for how you make money off it, with difficulty...

Thanks, I did wonder when the photographer asked if it was a money maker?
Just had a friend offer me a load of his routes so plenty of info to add just need to learn wordpress, I had a look at LCN for hosting as they use wordpress and are uk based.

There is a commercial site for this, see if I can find it....

It was an app and we looked up the off road routes round Salisbury Plain, people post them up with pics and instructions and there might have been money involved, someone will know it - I'll ask my mate who was using it. It was for all sorts of outdoor sports not just motors.

Probably your best chance of making any money would be to work a way of putting the data on youtube in an interesting format.
