Let’s talk cast iron. I’ve got a project I have to complete for my Father-in-Law. He has asked be to repair a big crack in an old cast iron yard (garden) roller. I’ve never worked such a large piece of cast iron before. The pre-heat and controlled cool down is going to be a challenge. I could use input on that. I’m at work at the moment; tomorrow in the light of day, I’ll put on some pics of the crack and material thickness. Also, I am on the fence about which process to use. Gas brazing, TiG brazing, or stick welding with a nickel rod. Any thoughts? Or, maybe once I post the pics. I would really welcome some advice and experience. I have brazed cast iron before...sometimes good, sometimes not so good. I’ve never TiG brazed before. I would assume it is more controlled heat. Any way...stand by for the pics. I’m thinking of projects for my COVID19 social distancing.
