Having some trouble brazing this cast iron casing for a Holbrook lathe.
I’ve tried with and without preheat.
DC and AC.
I can get an acceptable weld then it starts cracking at the join between the cast and the silicon bronze.
As you can see I don’t think this is the original part the casing. The small piece Has been repaired before with what looks like nickel but has cracked again.
Any pointers?
The casting was obviously in contact with oil in the past as it’s bleeding out in places.
