Hi, this is my first post.
I am a D&T Technician in a high school in Suffolk.
We have a 13 year old BOC Automaster 185 mig welder that has been misbehaving for a couple of years, so it is not being used. Before I try and find funds to replace it, I must find out if it is fixable.
It was working fine, both with mild steel and using an "aluminium kit" (replacment liner, pureshield argon) worked with aluminium.
Now, using steel, no matter what settings I use the wire just blows straight back to the tip. Both the liner and torch have been replaced.
What could be causing this?
Can it be repaired?
Thanks
Steve the Tech.
