Good Evening "My Ansomes" as we might say in Cornwall.
I need some advice please. I need to replace my ageing Wikes pillar drill as the motor is too feeble and easily stalls. It is very basic. My budget is circa £200 and I have been looking at Clarke (from Machine Mart), Sealey (from my local farmers merchants) and Axminster Tools own brand. I read good things about Clarke MIGs on here. My 190 amp MIG is a Sealey and I pleased with it. I have never bought anything from Axminster Tool although I have their catalogue. The reviews for the later are generally OK but there are a few negatives about casting quality and crude rack and pinion etc. I won't be using this that regularly as it is for domestic/hobby use but I tend to keep things for a very long time before changing them. I want something reasonably accurate and well finished. I think having a morse taper rather than a fixed chuck spindle may be a good thing.
I have a good Bott bench to mount it on (my Brother works for Bott).
Thanks Nivag
