That anvil didn’t look like its had any use in a long time the top was well rusty
A friend has at least two that I’ve seen, one an Officers, the other he bought new about 8yrs ago. The sheaf? made from bamboo was totally air tight once the blade was seated. Handle covering made from shark skin, inlaid with charms
I only caught the last 15mins, did it say how long the apprenticeship was? Something like 15yrs+
Funny thing with the Japs, every part of the sword takes forever, blade takes weeks by a “grand master”, the Tsuba takes weeks by a grand master, wrapping the handle “Tsuka-maki” theres another grand master, and the sharpening got done by another guy as well. They must have got paid by the hour cos they take bloody ages to make something.
Fun fact, some of the old swords you can buy today have a premium because they were tested on the bodies of criminals alive or dead who knows (a form of Tameshigiri).
