I've always been one of those "It'll never happen to me" type guys
Anyways, took on a welding job to provide TIG welded stainless trestle legs part-time - 160 units into a 700+ unit job, and 2 weeks in (part time) that's it.
Mid-to-upper back muscular pain. Started last week early on, all bench work, leaning over. Started using a stool for sitting and welding the top caps, which helped, but now I'm at the point of tacking and welding out the 4-member frames, and there's a LOT of manual handling of awkward sized frames and leaning over to weld.
Managed 4-5 hours on Saturday, and back was aching.
I'm not interested in permanent damage, so I phoned a mate who's gonna finish off this batch of 100 for me this week. Probably have to have help for the full amount, because I can't back out of this work now.
The more I read up on it, the more I realise, it's really quite a common thing!
Hoping that with a week or two of rest and exercise it will recover and hopefully condition up, and I'll be able to go on... it's the repetitive motion thing of hundreds of 2" welds that's doing it.
