I am using a 50/50 mix of gas and I am not sure what it is . Is it Argon and Helium? That is what I am thinking it is . I am brand new at this and am trying to learn on my own.
How did you come by the gas? Are there any labels on the bottle with a product name? What kind of welding are you doing? If it's oxy-acetylene then chances are you have Oxygen and Acetylene.
In the UK these gas cylinder identification colour charts might give you some clues:
Sounds like it could be Astec, a 50/50 mix of Argon & Helium.
Usually used for machine welding feritic and martenistic (grades 410,420 ect) stainless and aluminium.
