Hi folks,is there anyone local to tipton in west mids that can weld a hole up in a brembo brake caliper.its the bleed nipple hole,and obviously needs a tig welder.cheers
No mate,the fluid hole is all off centre anyway,so needs filling in really.Have you tried a ball bearing and a pipe union, generally seals better than a blanking plug..
It's not as simple as just welding it up. I've repaired several aluminium calipers with stripped threads.
It will need boring out first so the bottom can be accessed for full penetration. When welding you need to make you fill the seat so no voids but also need to know exact position to re drill the hole and cut the bottom seat, preferably in a milling machine not a drill and definitely not by hand. Then it needs tapping on centre to make sure the thread is perfectly in line with the seat.
