Anyone into stationary engines?

Visited the Llandudo transport festival at the weekend and had my first encounter with them.

Totally new to me I asked around and each time I was becoming more and more fascinated with them and the assortment of devices that could be used with them.

I would like to get a small one along with a foot powered jigsaw as a restoration project but need a little help with things like which type would be a good first one to restore and are getting parts easy enough if its not a rare machine.

Currently reading up on Lister D's.

If you can run it from a pulley, it's a good candidate for being powered by one. The Lister D's tend to be the most common type, and seem to be available for decent prices.
