Winter 2016 is well and truly upon us and its time to get back in the garage for 6 months of blue fingers, blue language and head scratching.
With the last build long gone and with its new owner, its time to start a new thread to remind me to get in the cold recesses of the shed, and get on with something else.

First idea was to build another Yamaha TR1 so over the summer I acquired the necessary bits plus a lot more ready for a fresh start, but in keeping with this hobby I soon got thinking about modifying my ideas and decided to scrap my plans and go with something a bit different. Back on eBay with the acquired bits and onto the search for that something different........

Fast forward several months later and I'm now the proud owner of another random collection of motorcycle related bits and pieces, not all from the same manufacturer. After my quest for a single cylinder British machine I soon realised that the prices were absolute ridiculous and the thought of cutting one up would be a bit of a tragedy I think?

So here it is, not much in the way of fabrication work yet, as I'm just assembling an "organised" random selection of parts I may or may not use.

Based on a 1990 Suzuki DR800, it should have plenty of grunt for a single, looks sort of air-cooled, apart for the oil cooler which Ill be hiding somewhere. Managed to squeeze it into the back of my Golf, it is in various boxes and compared to my last project start, this one should be a doddle !!!

I've just been throwing some bits and pieces together at the moment to get an idea of the look I want to achieve. I've already sort of decided the colour scheme though its still mostly in boxes and I've not laid a spanner on it.....

Stay tuned, because if its anything like the last build, (3 winters) its going to be a long old journey

How is that working so far ? :D How many bikes are you building ? There looks enough parts to do three at least :clapping:

Keep up the good work, but I think you should just buy a van - one day you'll encounter all the parts for the 'project of my life' but will find the Golf won't cope with carrying it. ;) :D

I'm not realy into bikes, but I will watch this with interest. It's always nice to see what other people get up to and you never know....I might learn something

    Good luck with your project

Ha lots more part shopping to do before the angle grinder and welder make an apperance.
In the meantime I got this taking up valuable real estate which I need to screw together for someone...

Nice looking engine, shame the frame's not really "cafe" geometry.

The white bike is more of a badly executed supermoto. not really the geometry in keeping with the style. this one based on the the same bike has slightly better proportions...... plenty of room under the seat jump for me sandwiches as well

Cut the oil tank out, cut the top tube out, lower and re/angle the headstock, stretch the front downtubes out then weld it all back together and re-instate a new top tube as the oil tank, maybe feed to the front tube depending if it's single or twin tube.

It's building the jig to keep it all in line that is the PITA to me, unless you make /have one that's adjustable?

There nearly done it all for you
