anyone got a tm165 that works well? how does it sound?
mine sounds horrible and feels even worse, even when it is welding ok wich isnt often. appart from the wire feed being way to fast and no where near enough precision on the adjustement (lowest ever required is number 2, highest ever needed is number 3.5) it just feels horrid, my old clarke tme195 felt nicer and that was a cheap welder!
everyone tells me the tm165 are good machines but im yet to see it.
-voltages look ok ranging from 17/18v on setting one up to 30/32 on setting eight.
-cappacitors look ok no white furry stuff etc.
-have tested potentiomiters on front pannel and all are ok.
-both the trim pots on the pcb are the correct value but dont slow feed down enough even when set to slowest limit setting.
-earth/clamp/connections are new, torch/liner/tip etc is new, rollers are new, wire is new
-supply voltage/ power lead is good (dedicated 32A supply off main incommer) tested at 241V.
It just dosent create the usial nice sizzle noise, and it always feels like settings are wrong even when it is giving an ok weld (wich is very rare and takes hours of playing)
SO anyone got one they are happy with? what settings do you use for fillet on 2mm for example? how does it sound?
