Evening chaps. About to start felting the new garage roof and got a few questions.
When laying out the felt (torch on) does it go end to end or up and over the ridge?
Reason I ask, my log cabin was done by me and is up and over. I just followed a bunch of instructions which came with the cabin kit. But, the old garage which I took down to make way for the new one had a felt roof which went from end to end, starting with the first layer at the bottom and layering up towards the apex.
Is either “correct” ?
Not sure as I care much since the old garage roof was there for at least 20 years without issue but on the other hand I would rather do it right if it does make a difference. No bother doing torch on as I did the cabin this way and it wasn’t exactly difficult, and the cabin roof hasn’t leaked in 13 years since I did it. I just recall it being a bit fiddly cutting all the edge bits and overlapping them all. Not sure why I couldn’t have just run the main lengths all the way to the bottom but I just followed the instructions, maybe it’s for aesthetics, dunno.
I can grab some photos tomorrow if that helps.
Thanks. Dom.
