Hi Folks.
I have a small piece of work to do which is to repaint the chassis, axles and steering/suspension components of my old Land Rover. Its nothing major - I'll be doing it in situ with some careful masking prior to Waxoyl.
Surface rust will be removed and the components will be cleaned and then wiped with appropriate thinners. Prior to painting the surface will not be perfect - there may be areas where there is existing paint and others where the rust has been removed leaving exposed metal.
Given the difficult surface, I had just planned to use Hammerite (formally Finnegans) No. 1 Rust Beater which acts as a primer and undercoat, followed by Hammerite Satin Black. I'll be spraying, using a mini gun and Hammerite thinners.
I'm also comfortable using it as I know there's no chance of contamination between paints.
However - is there a clearly better product/one that will do just as good a job but cheaper, that will be suitable in these less-than-ideal conditions?
Many thanks.
