This is for an electric assist kit that I have fitted to my bicycle. The kit uses a low cost Chinese bicycle motor that's been flashed with open source software to make it perform more like a proper Bosch type kit. It's really interesting as the lead open source developer is an ex OEM engineer so knows his stuff. The kit works great and the open source software really transforms the bike.
The kit suffers a serious issue with the displays, which spontaneously fail. In three years I've had three displays fail for no apparent reason. The open source developers are aware of this and latest software version now uses a home built display unit instead of using the China made one. The open source display is ugly as hell but I'll probably mill a case to make it look better:
Display build instructions: https://opensourceebike.github.io/build_display.html
However one of the components for the build is no longer made, the Power switch BTS4140N:
And another component, BSS123, comes in many variations like BSS123W and BSS123TP and I don't know which version to use (see https://www.tme.eu/gb/katalog/?search=BSS123&s_field=1000011&s_order=desc):
So my question is, how to find an alternative to the power switch, and how to know which "sub version" of the transistor to use. The open source developers are not really contactable and their support forum doesn't really have any savvy contributors.
