Hi all,
Just wanted to share my joy of being able to make metallic pigeon poo that actually sticks to a previously useful piece of metal! Thanks to reading the posts on this forum.
I can now feel reassured that my welding is rubbish rather than just my welding tool.
Bought a Clarke steel liner, too big so used a 75p curtain wire.
Wire feed motor roller was way out of centre (square inside hole eccentric to outside diameter). Made a new one.
Added laptop charger power supply (22v didn’t have 24v handy). Used 12v switch supply going to existing relay (which turns arc on/off) to activate another 10A 12v relay (from old tumble dryer) to power wire feed motor through speed control part of the pcb and also gas valve solenoid (3D printed the valve part).
Was going to do the motor roller bracket but the existing bracket for the drive roller seemed ok. The top ball bearing tension bracket is a poo design and could wobble side to side so made another with a tighter fit on the pivot.
