There's a ton of info out there on cleaning materials prior to welding, but I wondered what are peoples go -to methods for cleaning or finishing aluminium after the welding and fab work is complete?
I'm just starting a build with some 3" box. The stock is a bit messy to begin with and needs some tidying up (I reckon the supplier must deal with scrap as its the second order from them with stock that's in a bit of a mess).
Last time I did a build with this stuff was for home and I hand rubbed it all with scotch cloth. It gives a nice brushed finish and looks the mutt's....er.....knees! to begin with, but it very quickly marks.
I could get it painted I guess but i'd prefer untreated if possible.
Anyone have any magical methods for cleaning/polishing/brushing their aluminium projects to a nice finish?
