Why does stuff always go wrong and the most annoying time!!
Let me set the scene for you..
.. its a sunny weekend in the british empire, I dust off my welding gear and realised that a mouse/rat has eaten the whole knee of one of my overalls.
>>> STRIKE 1
.. who needs overalls? not me! hood and jacket are still ok so I crack out the MIG and get ready for some fun. Ran about 9 beads and welder cuts out mid-run. Turns out the wire has melted to the contact tip but also half the friggin contact tip is gone!! I cant remember if the tip was the real mcoy or cheap ebay but im willing to bet ebay
>>> STRIKE 2
.. im still hanging in there, must have at least 20 spare tips and so atleast a few will be 0.6mm. Get the pliers on that tip and BAM! Snapped him right where the thread goes into the nozzle. New neck @£19 is now on its way to me. Boo Hoo.
>>> STRIKE 3 HES OUT!
No more MIG for me until that new neck arrives.
Would that stop you?
Hell no I thought: torch disassembled, neck in vice, wind a teeny little extractor in and all I did was drill a hole. The tip is either welded to the neck if thats even possible or its just far too soft for me to remove.
I dont even mind that I broke it though, having laid down my best beads I was happy as larry
