There are a few things I know about electrics and a great deal I don't. I want to rig up a 16 amp socket for my stick welder to stop blowing 13 amp fuses when setting around 120+ amps for using 10 gauge rods. The simple solution would seem to be just spur off an existing socket on the ring main without any protection other than the main board but I'm aware that this is by no means best practice.
Is it feasible to spur off with a RCD between the ring main socket and the 16 amp socket? If so, where can I get a suitable RCD? Also, is wiring one of these things easy?
As I said at the start, I'm a bit of an ignoramus so please keep any answers simple.
Many thanks
