Adams or SGS Gas

  1. Hi;

I am in need of a bottle of Argon / 5% CO2 mix for hobby welding bodywork / subframes.
Local suppliers are SGS and Adams Gas.

Both appear to 10L bottles filled to 200 Bar.

SGS is £126 (May deliver to local garage?)
Adams is £103 (Local garage is an Adams Gas supplier)

Anyone recommend either one over the other?

    Many thanks

I use Adam's gas for Argon and Argonshield, no complaints about their local stockists service or price.

I'd phone the local dealers and ask what size cylinders they stock...sometimes the larger cylinders aren't always available, look at the refill prices.

Been happy with sgs as local motor factors stock them and deliver so makes it easy for me.

That little bit of convenience makes my life easier.
Got 20l of argoshield and 2x 20l argons.
Been happy with them so far but going to look into the 30l argons.

I would just go with the Adam's gas going by the information you've given

It's an offer open only to Forum members. You need to send Alan (Agautosport) a PM and then send a copy of the invoice to their head office to get the discount.

Believe me it's not, SGS have a flyer which is available from most of their suppliers to redeem the £20 off your first cylinder. How do I know this... I work for one of their suppliers

In that case I think Forum members ought to get a further £20 reduction

I thought sgs had stated in some other threads 10% discount for 10ltr bottle and 20% for 20ltr bottle.

Is this offer still on? I've spoken to several distributors and they know nothing about it ?

It doesn't work through the distributors. You pay full price to them and SGS credit you £20 direct to your account on production of your invoice for the rental bottle. I'm sure that's how it worked for me.

It is. Message Alan on this forum and he'll tell you where to send the copy invoice.

All you do is send a letter with bank details and a copy of the receipt to their head office (on the sgs website) and you will be refunded 20 squid.

Well, I've just got my first 20 litre bottle of argon from a local SGS agent. I've checked the SGS website and no mention of the £20 refund.

I dont think it was ever on the website - more of a private offer to forum members.

I got a bottle last month, but have not got around to doing the rebate thing yet... this has been a reminder for me!

It's not on their website as it's a deal for the forum.
Message @Agautosport to find out the details and how to claim.

Just a shame that SGS don’t do 300 bar in any size. A 30l at 300 bar with their network of outlets would be a game changer.

Is it just the 30l they don't do in that pressure?

As I thought all their other cylinders were 300?
