I'm planning on purchasing in the (very) near future an AC/DC TIG for non-commercial use. I've had a MIG now for almost a year and have done the stuff I want to with it. I see TIG offering more flexibility than the MIG I have (and would probably sell) and also offer me a new skill to learn - I'm planning on doing an evening course on TIG welding starting in February.
I've been looking at various machines and at the moment the Jasic TIG 200 Pulse AC/DC Mini is the current favourite; I've been offered it at close to 20% off list. Would probably buy with pedal, too. It is compact, appealing as I'd like to downsize and have something I can put on a shelf when not in use. With the local BOC agent I've previously used now gone it looks like I'll be switching gas supplier and might be using a more compact bottle too.
Although appealing, the GYS 207 is out of my price range, I have seen folk on here say it can be had for £1500 - but that was last year and plus VAT I suspect.
Sorely tempted by the R-Tech 170 and perhaps even the 210 as they come with an SSC pedal, however I'm put off their size - something compact would be nice, as above. Ditto the Parweld XT202 and TA equivalent.
Decent warranty is a deciding factor; it now sounds like all the major Asian inverter brands with a UK presence (JASIC, Parweld, R-Tech) offer a very similar three to five year warranty; JASIC seemingly now akin to Parweld's 'no quibble' postage paid return policy. R-Tech's customer service is well-known.
And then there's the SWP Stealth, widely available for £950 with pedal...
