"90" bolt marking

A quick google did not show anything up. Anyone know what this means?

the number 90 prob means some kinda grade of cheese..........

The bolts are used to bolt the seats into my 450SL, I'm thinking they must be high strength.

Any seats/ seat belt's always go high tensile, same as brakes etc.

Unless the seat belts are part of the seats there's no reason for the bolts holding the seats to be high tensile - all they are doing is stopping the seat from moving. 8.8 is fine for the seats themselves.

Hi, They look like self threading bolts, have they got a 'flute' part way along the thread? A number of manufacturers use them to speed up production.

The seat belt is attached to the seat, the thread is normal.

Try Japanese marking of bolts. They have some odd markings.

If by high tensile you mean metric grade 12.9, then I wouldn't use them for seatbelts - stronger in tensile loading, but no give.

If you mean metric grade 8.8 then I'd say they were fine, similar to the original UNF specs.

Found this "class 90" bolt today, looks like the one from the original pic. Still not sure what "class 90" means. Not much in the internet I can see but think it may be 900N/mm2
