Almost every person i have/do currently work with, when it comes to rooting a pipe butt (rolled or in position) with a fleetweld 5p+, or rooting plate butts with a murex celtian, but either situation rooting DCEN.
I think it gives a real harsh arc, and monumental penetration needing real good fit-up and if not, keyholes like mad on the verge of being out of control.
Personally ive always run them DCEP, gives perfectly adequate penetration along with a stable and controlable puddle, and has done me ok when thats been the order of the day over the last 15yrs or so.
Low hydrogen 7016 roots, yes DCEN (preferably with a remote) wether pipe or plate).
Over the years have i missed something?
Out of interest, what is other peoples preference?
