Hello,
I am trying to connect up a 2nd hand 3 phase compressor. I have a 32a 5 pin 3 phase outlet in the workshop protected by a 32a MCB, and I have bought a new corresponding red plug for the compressor. The compressor was previously hard wired in it's last place so just has a wire with no plug on the end.
The wire coming from the compressor looks to be 1.5mm2 which is presumably ok, as the compressor motor says 5amps on the rating plate. But with the MCB being 32a, if there is a fault with the compressor motor the 1.5mm2 wires would melt long before the MCB trips surely? Should the motor have its own lower sized fuses somewhere?
Thanks
