can u link 2 inverters in series to double the amps for bigger sticks?

Yepcan u link 2 inverters in series to double the amps for bigger sticks?
Dc of course quite common fo gouging both units max ampsi would not try it to be honest just a conerversation we were having earlier about welding with some big sticks without a big amp welder
If two identical sources are wired in series you get double the voltage at the same current. Well, you do if wired correctly...
With AC you have to get the phasing right (with a straight transformer you won't get phase disparity) or they'll cancel each other out.
With DC the polarity has to be right, like +-+-, or again they'll cancel.
To double the current (from identical sources) you need to have them in parallel, which will give you no change in voltage.
A pair of rectified transformers you'd likely get away with fairly easily.
Inverters - maybe...
I'm pretty sure there are machines rated for parallel operation but I'm not confident in saying you could do it with any random pair - especially if they're different makes/models.
Theoretically it should work
