I was given these 2 110v boxes to try to make a working one out of them for use in the Mens Shed.
I was told the left one wasn't working & the right one was working but the casing is damaged.
After a quick look at the left one I could see the problem.
It had been overloaded & melted the wiring in the socket! A check with the multimeter showed that the transformer windings were ok so I stripped out the bad wiring, temporarily wired in a new socket & tested it. It was working perfectly!
I had 2 new sockets that were a perfect fit so on they went.
Then I rewired everything with new cable.
Fit a new 230v cable & plug, screw back on the lid & we have one working transformer box.
The other box is going to be a good bit more work to get going. I have ordered 2 new sockets which I'm going to mount on one of the undamaged sides. I'll patch the hole with ally sheet & make a plywood top & handle for it.
