The old adage of never throwing anything away doesn't usually prove right but some of the bits used here I have had hidden away for 25 years.
The basic tank came out of a skip at a dairy I was working at. It was severely bent with a few holes cut into it.
Heating element came out of a scrap dish washer. Pump and hoses from a washing machine my mum and dad asked me to take to the skip. Bits of stainless saved from scrap bin. Valve body was cut off the side and shaft recess welded up and 20 micron mesh sandwiched between halves to act as a filter (mesh was a sample from a customer in 1994).
Isolators found in a skip. Power lead came off a hoover. Retaining brackets were off a pallet used to hold a heat exchanger on.
Only thing I had to buy was the tank thermostat and 2 conduit bends (closing down sale at Homebase ).
Just need to keep my eyes out for a piece of stainless for a lid.
