I watched an agricultural contractor putting pipes under minor roads in the Scottish Borders more than 30 years ago, using a device he had made in his own workshop. Dug a hole on either side of the lane (probably about 4ft square) and pushed a plunger through, using a double-acting ram powered...
We have a Meaco DD8 and it has been excellent, but I have a feeling that the model name implies 8 litre/day, so the OP might need more than two of them to match the Calorex (hire company says it is rated at 53 litre/day). Having said that, two little Meacos that work will be a lot better than...
Totally agree. A person who watches the road ahead while holding a mobile phone to his ear does at least have the option of dropping the device and putting both hands back on the wheel. A driver who looks away to operate a touch screen is probably far more of a menace, but very unlikely to...
Am I right in thinking that those quickly erected buildings have cold-rolled steel frames? Nothing wrong with a cold-rolled frame if used exactly as the designer intended, and correctly specified for local wind and snow loads (Outer Hebrides could be quite windy).
Is the shed liable to sustain...
I got the Titan carb adjustment tool for free a couple of years ago, just by phoning a UK helpline and quoting the machine serial number. Found out about it on the Screwfix website.

Why did they make the carb...
Bought a Katsu three years ago. It has been a very handy tool, often for jobs where I would previously have used the Dremel. Position of the switch is not ideal, but I can put up with that. The collet might come in useful, but I have never needed it yet.
Easy to change gear while stationary - very handy if traffic forced you to halt when travelling in top gear (which usually seemed to happen just before a steep climb). And 4-speed Sturmey-Archer gears were already in common use when I was cycling to school in the mid 1950s.
Very interesting. Never come across that one (but I retired 20 years ago).
My remarks about water levels were just tongue-in-cheek. Modern laser levels are of course far easier and quicker to use, but even high quality tripods can wobble in a strong gale (something I learned when working in...
If buying a laser level for outdoor use, get one with a heavy tripod that will be stable in strong winds.
Water level: Unlikely to go wrong. Will not get mis-aligned when you throw it into the back of a truck. Will not wobble on a windy day. Does not need direct line-of-sight (can "see"...
Probably 3/8" x 18 tpi, a thread size included in this list for Singer sewing machines (first column Simanco No 506):

We have have a Meaco DD8L for about 7 years and and an Ecoair DD1 Simple for about 4 years. Both dessicant type (to suit our fairly cold NE climate). No problems with either.
Meaco has more sophisticated controls, you can set the run time, but you have to press a button to start it.
Ecoair...
I have recently been thinking about getting a CCTV system. I am completely ignorant about the topic, and have not made any decisions yet, but this website was quite interesting:

I no longer need to move anything heavy, and have only a little Nugent 7'x4' single axle unbraked, which I have found to be very good.
For moving larger stuff, the folk I have spoken to give Brian James trailers top rating, followed by Graham Edwards. IW are very common around here, but...
There might not be much to choose between them where accuracy is concerned, but I like the screen layout of:

Any hardware or storage media can be affected by fire, flood or theft. Cloud storage is an option, but only if you (unlike me) are confident that it will always be possible to retrieve the data. It is easy to burn stuff onto recordable CDs and DVDs, but I have found those are not always...
