Hi Kenneth, I followed your amazing bug pick-up build on the volks forums years ago, looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Best of luck, I'm sure it will turn out well!
I've been donated some odd bits of tool steel, including a few pieces which (I'm fairly sure are tool steel) and are shaped exactly like a "1" - without the bottom serif...
I thought they were perhaps some kind of blank, but their not quite right for a boring bar.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the input guys. I've finally got the rest of the syndicateto see sense, and we've sold it to fund a 1.3 with fancy cam and either good old twin 40's or bike carbs
Been reading this with interest. I'm 28 - when I left school I wanted to be an "engineer" and went down a path which has led me into cad and tooling design. That's where I am now, but its not what I wanted as a career in "engineering." What I couldn't get through to the careers advisors and...
Wondered if anyone could give me some pointers. I'm building a track car with some mates, and we've been donated a 2 litre c20xe engine for it. Not my first choise, but nonetheless, I've strengthened the chassis and engine mounts, and connected up the loom to check out the wiring. Got it turning...
I've got a Myford lathe that I use all the time, and a wee Emco Unimat that I bought recently, just because 2 lathes are better than one. I've never used it much, mainly cos its got no on and off switch. Also, the original motor is long gone, and its built on top of a cabinet housing a huge...
Thanks guys, a wee bit to think about there.
The holes in the inner wing I patched are all good, so I think that's my only MOT concern. Everything else has been additional plates for strengthening. Some of the welding on these is not great - but theyre additional metalwork, and theyre all...
Hi all, back on after a long absence - whilst I've been stocking up my garage with a lathe and a welder. A few motorbike projects later, here I am.
I'm building a Nova track car which need a few bits of welding, as well as strengthening for the engine I'm putting in.
What I'm finding id...
It seems to have survived this long. Judging by the thick coating of stoor, its been that way for a while! I think the receiver might become a log burner....
I couldn't say, from what I remember I think it is, because its in the original paint and matches the receiver. Could be wrong though. What ratio would you expect to see?
Wonder whether to chop it into a log burner.....
Hi all, I haven't been about on this forum for a few years, but I'm glad to see there is now a compressor section, as I've just acquired a Broom & Wade compressor, and would like to know more about it.
Sorry the picture isn't great, I'll update it and get some more info from the name...
I can get the cross member bits no prob, but the brackets on the chassis - like wee short outriggers - are a bit more evasive. Rimmers have them for £89 a side, but I think my own battleship brackets could be a better option.

Right lads, need a wee bit of advice - looks like rather than knocking up bird tables, gates and clamps as I'd hoped, my first real project is going to be body mounts, and body cross member brackets on my Disco.
As we all know, theoretically, in theory is the same as in practice, but in...
Anybody got the TEC-ARC stick welder that's on the weldequip site?
I'd be using it mainly outdoors, for making up the usual heavy duty Land Rover gear, and some gates for the garden, amongst other things.
Keen to hear if anyone has used one, and to see how it would compare to the Fronius...
