Not for me then, the site states...
"The rods will not work on Stainless Steel or any other type Steel (except galvanised)"
Sounds quite good for older Landies though.

Ian,
www.lro.com
It's a brilliant site for all things landy, helped me out hundreds of
times with my series 3(now sadly gone) and my current disco.

Hello there,
Anyone on the forum used a sandblaster? Have been reading up on them and seen an American website, the one with "The Belle" on it and thought they look the business. Looking around the web they seem pretty expensive for an occasional user though. Any thoughts on it? Has anyone made...
Everyones written advice is great but when you see the rust and then the beautiful new pieces of steel welded in, then that is, as Malcolm says, "inspiration". Being very new to the game I'm a bit overwhelmed by my Landy Disco and the amount of rust I'm finding. I've done the sills, my first...
Hello again,
As I was looking around B & Q today I saw they had some new wire in.
"mild steel wire".
I have been using stainless steel wire for welding mild steel, was that why
it was such hard work? Also, what is the weld going to be like after a bit of
time?
I used it to weld the sills...
Malcolm,
I'm in for the long haul.
Welding is a right buzz and replacing rusty old bits with shiney
stuff is fantastic.
I'm off to see my psychiatrist now!

Bloody hell!
I'll never moan about land rovers again after seeing the Fiat....
Just completed my sills, bit ropey, first ever welding job, but plenty of grinding back, a bit filler, a load of tetrasyl, injected with waxoyl and £500 out of the mechanics pocket! (that was his quote at so called...
Wire diameter
I'm currently using 0.8mm wire for welding 1mm mild steel with varying results. Would using 0.6mm be a better choice?
Any comments always welcome.

Lexi,
It's 7.5cfm 118psi. Cost me £120 with all the spray gun, hoover, blowers etc
It handles the air nibbler really well.
I can see more air tools coming for Xmas!
But lets not talk about that yet....
cheers

Cracking tool, just under £50 but well worth it. Nice to make the cut out of a large piece of steel then hone it to perfection with the fine grinder, hacksaw, file etc.

Is there anybody in Cheltenham who frequents the forum.
Would be good to actually meet up and do some practical
work together or just get some hints if they're more
experienced than me, i.e. been welding for more than 2 weeks!
Cheers

Just bought a SIP air grinder, couldn't resist it's shiney exterior, I will try it out tonight and give some feedback.
Thanks for all the comments, great stuff.
Degz.
Please do!
Just keeping the torch straight has helped me.
All these things you experienced welders take for
granted are revelations to us novices.
Keep 'em coming..
