i'm after ideas really. the big problem i have at the moment is i have part of my garage with clear perspex and when i put my mask down all i can see is the daylight reflecting on the inside of the mask and not being able to see. i put a spare glove over the gap but not ideal do others suffer...
just seen your reply. i'm slowly getting used to the torch but still occasionally touch the car with the wire and get a spark or 2 lol.
it's not a bad little machine but can blow thru quite easily.
i just bought one of them cheapy cheap gasless welders off of amazon for 75 quid and my only concern is the torch is live. i saw on a video a guy wrapped the tip in insulation tape to stop it sparking but i just wondered can the torch be swapped over for a non live torch or is that part of how...
just seen your reply. well it all went tits up. i bought the yellow one after the guy wanted 200 euro to fit a new one to mine !! said he'd fit it for 30 so gave it too him and 2 weeks later said it wouldn't work in my welder. have sent to switch back and awaiting to see if he has knackered it...
so would you say that one is good value or not?
i like the idea of the first one you posted but i wouldn't even know where to start with the wiring the yellow one looks easier as it has the screws on the terminals.i have a pic that i took of mine before it went away and they look very similar...

what is or is there any difference between these new inverter type welders over my old clockwork type? i just been told it is going to cost 100 euro to replace the main switch on mine with a second hand switch or 200 euro for a new one. i found a cheap gasless welder on ebay ya know the same...
had a call from the guy today and he says the main switch has gone! a second hand one fitted he says 100 euro and a new one 200. would you replace the switch or buy one of these cheap "disposable" welders?
i've had a auto darlening masks for a fews now and the one i have now i'm not too sure if the cell is worn as i can see the welding but not clearly so i bought one of them ones off ebay that has replaceable cells and an on/off switch and it appears to be ****. ihaven't used it yet as my welder...

cheers guys for the replies. i'll have a look tomorrow but the fan was/is working fine as you can hear it so doubt it overheated i just hope it isn't serious as money is sooo tight.
was outside today working on the cortina welding away quite nicely and while i was doing a plug weld i heard a faint pop and the welder stopped earthing.the wire feeds nicely i'm just not getting a spark.i tried several times moving the clamp and trying to weld in different spots but just won't...
