Ah I see, thanks for the reply Malcolm. the exhaust is no longer on the car and it's currently my only way to get to work.. and at 6:45am I'm probably waking a load of people up!
hopefully I'll get a chance to try welding it up on the weekend.. better have the water at the ready
Can anyone tell me if I can weld up my broken stainless steel exhaust up using my MIG? the backbox broke off and it's going to take 4 working days to arrive and I need the car to get to work :cry:

when I eventually get the money to get one it'll more than likely need a full ground up restoration and don't fancy welding in the snow again :lol:
it'll have to be in a nice heated garage.
All finished now.. both rear outer arches, one inner arch, sill, top of both front inner wings, front panel.. and a few patches here and there!
took me 11 months of weekends, sprayed it myself as well, had never touched a welder or spray gun before, very satisfying to do it all myself but...

one thing I have seen here that makes more sense is when seam welding it's not just a matter of running the weld in a straight line, but little circles/ figure of 8's/zig-zags to get a stronger weld! didn't tell me that in the little MIG welding book I brought and...
