I'm hoping to do a similar thing. Currently not enjoying being a wood butcher.
Been around a few local small shops to find a shortage of machinists under 50 yrs old. Sadly being 25 yrs old I missed out on doing any metal working at school, though they did still have the lathes and mills the...
There isn't one. College classes for anything manual are filled with people who scraped by at their GCSEs or failed to get any. Half of the class I was in had to take additional math and english classes to get through the written side of the carpentry course. They're turning it into a thing...
IMO, life skills should be taught by the parents. Cooking classes is school taught me nothing. I learnt to cook and sew from my mother.
I wish I could have used one of the lathes in the school I was in 10yrs ago but not even the teachers were allowed.
IT skills are useful as so much modern...
For the goalie, yes. But there aren't many teams who play with a dedicated goalie anymore, constant rotation to give each player a rest. A lot of the stuff out of the goal is about using even the smallest advantage to your benefit so if you can't turn as fast as the other team you're going to...
I do use different sized tyres on my bike, not quite the same but close enough
I won't be using cable discs. I despise the filthy turds. If I use disc brakes it will be hydraulic - so much easier.
Thanks drains.

Each colour is a different tube. Joint A, B and C are mitred butt joints. D is sleeved. Tube walls are approx. 1mm thick.
Not a line drawing but it'll do.
I'm getting ready to weld up a bike frame and wondered how much deflection I would get if I simply welded round each join before moving on to the next. I plan on making a jig but it's only going to be a wooden one as that's what I have lying around. Will the wood allow everything to flex too...
I've heard of them using dry ice blasting to remove chewing gum off pavements before. Then if it's not working they freeze it with liquid nitrogen and scrape. Slight price difference though.
Very useful in a city though. I'd rather ride at 20mph (yes we do) and hold cars up than allow them to risk an overtake. When it's safe we single out and let people pass. I'm fed up of drivers risking their own lives, my live and the life of the driver coming in the opposite direction all in on...
