I saw these when delivering to a customer in Waltham St. Lawrence this morning. At first I thought that they were metal. The customer explained that they were made from a chicken wire frame covered in fibreglass. They were then some how covered in fine iron powder and left to rust.
A very...
I made the changes. Too much heat was going up the chimney so I added a baffle made from a 10x9" curved metal plate and it improved the radiated heat alot.
I think I will experiment with a damper in the chimney. Some say they are not a good idea. So I will see what happens.
There are a few of us from here on www.difflock.com/forum
If you can weld then a Disco may be a better choice. But you need to know what you are looking for in terms of rust. That is why they are much cheaper than a Defender.
I have a childs mountain bike that has a knackered gear shifter.
It is a 21 speed and it is the front shifter that controls the three cogs by the pedals. It is the twist type controller on the handle bars that has broken.
Can I replace it with any twist bit thing for a three speed front? Or...
Thanks. If I do end up with it I'll try a bit and see.
I can always make some sort of collar it can fit into.
Bonus would be that the chimney could be removable.
Can it be done using a big old AC buzz box and 6013 rods?
I might be able to get a section of a big bore exhaust pipe for free.
It would get used as a chimney on a gas bottle patio heater. It would not be structural and I am not worried about corrosion as it will get a coat of high...
The air intake valve worked out good in my opinion. I didn't think I would be able to slot the bolt that well.
This project has been so enjoyable that I have de-gassed another cylinder for another build.
I have really enjoyed building my first woodburner. It has come out almost as hoped. Too much heat is going up the chimney so I need to add some sort of baffle under the chimney and extending forwards
The air intake is a bit restrictive. Fully closed the fire goes out and it is very sensitive...
May I suggest that a second hand Clarke machine may be a good bet.
If you lets us know what sort of budget you have then I am sure you will get some good advice.
As this is a projects section it was time to stop thinking and start doing!
Here I am so far:
The air intake is just wedged in place for the picture. The door hinge is from a Land Rover. I'll add a plate to stop the ashes falling out the front when the door is open. It will be modded as...
That is a nice tidy build. Looks like you will end up with what you want for not a lot of money. Are you going to protect the inside of the rails with waxoyl or similar?
