Ok don't kill me if this is a stupid question!:D
I have a plasma cutter and I wondered if I can buy the appropriate torch and connect to an Argon bottle...and use it as a Tig welder?
Thanks in advance
Mmm... not entirely correct. Also the OP wanted to protect himself from MIG fumes. That would be some efficient extraction system to take that away before he inhaled...would you say?
Have a read below...yes these are the masks I have for £10 posted. These masks will protect you against dust...
I have some 3M 4251 respirators due next week. They are superb masks and will be ideal for your requirements. They have had a slight price increase from the last time, but still excellent value and I haven't seen cheaper. Brand new unopened original packs. £10 posted UK mainland.
I'm away...
I've used this....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JOTUN-JOTAMASTIC-80-MARINE-EPOXY-BOAT-PAINT-4-6L-/250861734073?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item3a688648b9
Great results. Prime first then seam seal. Sikaflex 221.
I want to paint a good quality chrome bumper. The paint is Lechlar 2K acrylic.
Can anyone advise me on this please? Will the chrome have to come off? Or can it be keyed? Pros and Cons please guys.
Many thanks
The Jotun, you will be pleased with. Don't load the coats on too thick. Cracking can occur if applied too thick. Two coats is sufficent.
This is info from Shepherd Marine tech guys.
Apply any seam sealer after and within the curing time. It bonds very well indeed.
Ok well the low spots will be there, but they are very very minimal and I flatted out the low spots near as dammit with a long board over the primer.
sorry I should have been clearer with the colour topcoat (pardon the pun)
Thanks for your help.
That's very helpful..thanks.
One thing though, I haven't applied clearcoat. The finish you see is paint out of the gun, nothing on top.
Should I clearcoat? Or just use the process you have described directly over the topcoat?
Cheers
I've finished painting my bus...bout four weeks ago so should have hardened by now I'd say.
It's a little bit bloomy so I want to go to the next stage of ....flatting?
I'm a complete novice, this is my first ever attempt at painting etc etc and it's came out ok. Can someone help me step by...
That is not the one for steel anyway. I used the Jotamastic (for steel) and found it to be very good. It did take some thinning, but when I got it right it went on very well indeed. I then shot the Lechlar Hi build over the top of the epoxy followed by the topcoat.
maybe you didn't thin it...
Good luck Pidgeon, I feel for you mate. I'm a little younger, not much, but have just a sore back from time to time. i wonder what the future has in store for me. Don't sell all your stuff, it's part of your heart.
Sounds like you've got a great family unit there so all the best my friend...
