It is a 1/4" BSP on the Kemppi torch connection - trust me.
We allow customers to specify the connection they need on CK torches. But we stock torches with the connections in 3/8" BSP.
CK have offered to make you an adaptor or a replacement power cable with the correct fitting. PM me your...
The fitting on the Kemppi is 1/4" BSP. I think the torch fitting received is 3/8" UNF.
Obviously this would need a suitable adaptor. But i am unaware of an off the shelf solution. We order the flex loc torches with BSP fittings, so this problem is avoided.
You need to work out what thickness you need to cut rather than how many amps. A plasma stream is measured by power in reality. You need to look at arc voltage as well as amps to see how much power it produces. A 30 amp hypertherm will out perform most 40 amp competitors. This is down to design...
I did some work with this kind of mesh to some fairly heavy steel and we used mig brazing. Cu si3. Tig brazing also works but was too slow for the amount we did.
You sound much like myself. And judging by the toys and workshop i think you need a good quality AC/DC Tig welding machine.
Over 200 amps and your next project will be a custom tank or frame. I can suggest, Lorch, Fronius, Kemppi, Miller or EWM.
7005 is used on frames in heat treated and non heat treated forms. The lower end stuff uses thicker alloy that needs no heat treatment. The higher spec uses thiner section and gains strength through heat treatment.
You should first determine whether your frame alloy has been heat treated or not.
If it has you will need pre and post weld heat treatment.
The material is readily welded with 5556 filler wire.
Dont know any experts your way, but worth asking a local welding distributor if they deal...
Well i certainly dont know where to get Ti Mig wire. It sounds a lot more expensive than a Ti Bride. Just not so embaressing admitting you knew whre to buy the bride.
There is a company in Southampton that supply Titanium Material. Google "Global Metal Trading UK Ltd"
They are more in touch...
I would use hot wire tiptig inside a purge chamber. Not sure what size the plates are, but it is another use for the Millenium Dome and an aweful lots of argon.
Butters is long gone. They can and do appear now, but they certainly are not the Norman Butters machines that commanded a reputation for quality 30 years ago. Its a bit like Austin Rover, using the MG badge to liven up sales and make people believe a Mini Metro was a Hot Hatch.
On the other...
