Great thanks. Now I've got a name to work with I can see that I've got a mk1:

It needs some recommissioning since the previous user passed away some 30 years ago but sounds like it might be a useful little mill. Looking forward to getting some garage time...
Anyone know what this is? It came from a colleague who's father used it making for model steam engines. I believe it was a kit but not found any markings yet. Looks a bit home brew to me...
Any help or info appreciated
Thanks
thanks for all the brilliant ideas. I'm not sure I'm up to an Ikea trip just yet (still scarred from the last one! :o ) but will definitely keep eyes peeled for any bargains/ex demo things to make it a bit more comfortable/usable.
Windows will be replaced (rotten) and security improved plus...
Thanks for all the ideas guys!
Plumbing round the area for compressed air is a goodun. Also like the ideas for bench and shelving - thanks.
Thanks for the offer toddy but I'm up in cheshire.
got a few toys to play with too.
Good idea! Also improving the lighting cos it only had a couple of 40w bulbs!
I've got a beer fridge :) and was thinking of asking for a dart board for chrimbo to go in there too!
Evening all,
Moved into a new house and now have a decent double garage. The back wall already has a very sturdy wooden workbench along the length.
I want to put a steel skin on the top of the bench to protect it and make it a durable surface to work and weld on. First question, what...
Anyone know when Machine Mart's next VAT free offer is likely to be?
Got a list of things now and I'll be an unhappy bunny if I now place the order only to find the next week they're discounted!
Ok, moved into new house and before I start work on any projects I'm going to paint the garage internal walls white as I did with my last garage (looks much lighter!!).
The wall surfaces are quite rough so rollers and brushes are very slow to cover. So I was wondering if the cheapie sprayer...
I don't think you'll be dissappointed. I've done a few projects with my 185 and loved it. Tested it on everything from 1mm sheet to 1/4" plate and it was easy to set up and produced lovely consistent welds.
My mate borrowed it when his SIP stopped working, and absolutely raved about it. He's...
Should also point out he now visits this forum because he's looking to replace his machine - ey up Si (Lee) if you're reading! :waving:
Get yourself a portamig... you know you want to! Just don't tell Claire how much!
Good point! Spoke to him during this week and said I'd have a job in the next week or so - he said he'd lend me my welder back! cheeky git!
Not had much chance for anything the last couple of weeks - work and life getting in the way of welding!
Step daughters 18th tomorrow so a...
My mate's SIP gave up the ghost whilst welding his roll cage so he borrowed my portamig 185.
About 45 minutes later I got a phone call and he was shouting down the phone how good it was.
Few minutes later he texted to ask if it was wrong to be getting so excited about a welder! :D:D:D...
don't see one for ages then spot two in short succession - saw an elderley gentleman manouevering one yesterday in town and it was in mint condition. Probably only done 5k miles! :o
Got a couple of projects that require small sprockets and chains to drive a couple of moving parts/elevators.
I'm after metal (preferably something ali/stainless/chromed) rather than the plastic parts some model shops sell (they're going to be on display so want them to look good!)
Does...
