Brian thats the thing with my car , it is a really good shell and no rust anywhere !!!! even the underside;) makes it easier for me i suppose . The plus side is the car has history and all the numbers seem to tie in which is always a good thing . Only thing i would have liked was the original...
I pulled the car apart today
there is nothing behind these sills except the square box section type beam and its spotless inside ? i drilled a couple holes that i will fill . I just had to do it just to make sure .
well in that case iv got the "over sills" but there not over anything ! theres nothing underneath them except the floor!! im gonna drill a hole in the inside tomorrow and take a pic in a repairable place to proove to you all that mine isnt a binger lol pmsl
someone has fitted these sills...
they arent oversills !! lol [ its my car ;)] I also fitted the floor in it .... There are 3 sills available for a mini . If you car to look at this diagram you will see mine are the 9" wide sills and dont have vents . Thats why i was unsure about what you ment by "vents"
mate the car is 41 years old its probably had 3 sill replacements by now:laughing: ! but i can tell you that they arent oversills , you can see that if you look inside the drain hole/vent etc inline with the door may be you missed it [ just visible in that pic] also the minis from 1959 - 1966...
blackjack ,
thanks you for that , that gives me more to think about . Basically I want the car as"rustproof" as far fetched as that may same on a mini [ not concours but thanks for the info] like you said as long as i can clean the sills [ the noticable parts] every once and a while and fo...
bert, that looks great !
malcolm , your method seems to be what alot of new manufacturers do so i might go for that ! got the etch finished today .... neck is a bit stiff lol
its that was oil i dont like to be honest , never seems to "dry" and it attracts dirt ..... and looks hellish ..
I was thinking that stone chip stuff after primer then colour on top ?
