Hello! :) I'm starting to get used to the settings that I need to use for doing occasional bits of welding on our campervan, but now I'd like to get a longer earth cable (3m). The cable that came with my Cosmo 170 machine isn't very long (perhaps 1.5m?) and this is making things a bit tricky...
Flashing lights (e.g. strobe lights, lots of flash photography, even watching TV for some people) can trigger seizures, but this isn't the case for everyone who has epilepsy, only for people who have something called "photo-sensitive epilepsy" (PSE). The trouble is, people don't get diagnosed...
Helloooo . . . from just up the road! How do you find the time (and energy!) to do all that stuff (apart from drinking beer of course!)?

p.s. in your photos, is that a wing panel that you're welding on for practice? If it is, and you're new to welding, you're starting off in the deep end, imho. As suggested by one of the previous...
Hi, have you had a look on this page? At the bottom of it there's also a link to another list that Welder' Warehouse website put together.

Just wondering if anybody knows where I could get cheap car bodywork panels from, to use for welding practice. Newcastle-upon-Tyne area. I'll be going through Yellow Pages and Freecycle etc but thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone already knows of somewhere.
Cheers

I can't help with your question but I'd be interested to know how you get on with the re-fill as I'm local to you and being given a co2 bottle in a couple of weeks time.
Tony
Harry, saw your post about this in another section of the forum. Sorry, but I'm not in a position to be able to help you with this. Hope you get sorted though.

Did this thread used to be stickied? Wish I'd come across it sooner, it could've saved me some time and confusion! Very relieved not to have signed-up with a local agent today!

I finally got to have a play with my Cosmo this weekend and have been pleasantly surprised with the results so far (despite listening to the wire feed doing its own thing with the speed!):

Here's a pic from yesterday:
In this one, the three rows on the right are from yesterday and the three on the left are from today (having slowed the wire speed slightly and introduced some side-to-side movement with the torch):
Also from today's practice:
I didn't have...
Phew! I'm relieved to see that I've been using the same settings that somebody else uses for 3mm. :D
Thanks guys for all the suggestions. That gives me a few things to have a look at when I do a bit more practice today (weather permitting).

I've been doing a welding course at a local college for a few weeks now and today I finally got to try doing some at home with a welder I'd bought. Unfortunately it's a Cosmo / Sip and since discovering this forum I've become familiar with their wire feed problems. I've done a couple of the...
