Hi,
Got myself one of these from the local auction in pretty good condition. Not much accessories I don’t think, will find out tomorrow exactly what’s there.
But, I haven’t TIG for several years since a college course at Bicester Motorsport, and I wasn’t very good at it. Sticking the tungsten...
Postie delivered 1/4 32 UNEF tap today (not the China one, a good one)
Doesn't fit, too big.
Found the chasers and found some 32s. They seem to fit? 8mm brass is on order, turn it down and see what these do? Never used chasers and only have my little Rollo Elf lathe available.
Some pics of...
That's a super handy reference, thank you very much!
I'm starting to believe you're right, they just did their own thing for this. There's a load of ex-Wolverton works thread chasers in the garage, will try some of them.
It's honestly finer than it looks, I've got Whitworth thread gauges and 30 or 32 is the best fit. Metric 0.8 is a better fit! It's maddening. I have some BSF taps and they don't fit well.
The Machinerys handbook I'm using is the sixth edition, I don't think they had UNEF back then. They do have "French" and "International " as flavours of metric.
(that is a shocking bad ruler in these pics!!)
Not sure if this is the right bit of the forum?
I recently bought a 1920 The Times Survey Atlas of the World. It's huge -bigger than A3 and has some lovely maps.
The front cover comes off with a small square key, and the maps are removable, they're mounted on plated brass posts.
It's obvious...
Quick follow up. It did help getting all your opinions. The question "Do you really need a massive vehicle for occasional jollies?" was a bit of key one.
The answer was apparently "yes, I do. Not need, but want.". the idea of using a small van type thing, like a Combo Life, and feeling cramped...
I stole this, sort of.
Been looking for a few weeks, this came up on the bay. Ending mid Friday morning.
Finished at £62. Local collection, 2 miles down the road. Yer man was Not Happy but abided by the price.
I am Very Happy
How comes?
My last car was a works issue Insignia 2.0l diesel, pulling just under 50mpg, 700 miles to a tank.
Are they dumbing down the modern diesels? Speaking to a Vauxhall dealer they were absolutely pushing the 1.2 petrol over 1.5 diesel in the Combo Life thing, claiming the D was getting...
I didn't mean investment as in a thing to put away, I meant as a thing worth the buying to use. Its quite a lot of money for someone who usually buys triple or even double digit vehicles
As the cleverest bunch of people I know, I'd like your opinions on the future of privately owned diesel vehicles in the UK. I'm looking at buying a 2021 diesel Peugeot Traveller, for personal use - commuting a couple of days a week and weekend excursions to where-ever.
The finance is going to...
Bought a 2nd hand Safebloc mains connector thing from the eBay a few weeks ago, and found someone had helpfully removed 3 of the screws holding the bottom plate on and all of the nuts for attaching mains power to.
Does anyone know what thread they are likely to be? Are they going to be BA or...
This is what I want to do with mine, is it an acceptable thing to do? It has a stern warning on the switch box only to use it and never to use just the mains switch.
The NO valve looks good as well, it's very fiddly to get to the drain valve with it under the bench
Here's mine, was given to me a few years ago by a friend. I had it mounted on a board, but now looking to attach it to the work bench and fit a smaller motor.
The current setup is a lash up to turn the bushing sticking out of the blue pulley, which is for the new motor rig.
