Been reading up a bit and the book tells of adjusting the shroud so as the tip can protrude, especially when welding thin stuff in dip mode. On my set I cannot seem do do this. As the books are old is tghis something of an old idea?

Hello Wyn, yes you are dead right, thanks, the manual does refer to synergie, to be honest that means nowt to me. The books from library are good but about twenty yeras old.

I have welded many petrol tanks in my time, Gas weld that is, I use to put a steam jenny in the filler neck and leave for as llong as poss, never failed for me, a pressure washer would poss do same thing. I have also used a kettle.
I was asked by Malcom last night to download photos of my welding attempts, you can all now have good laugh at waht you now see, notice the wire worm?.
