The manual says TTL doesn't it? Specification number 7. The scale is TTL too.
I understand that the signal wires would need changing around to get them to match. I'm confused.
It's an old Accurite and came with the mill. Probably 40 years old. It has aviation connectors rather than serial plugs. It has a serial adaptor lead connector for the current DRO which I think is a modern replacement.
Everything is in order. Plug earth checked out fine with the multimeter. The DRO seems to be earthed correctly too. Continuity from the earth pin at the plug socket to the metal bits on the X Y and Z sockets. There's also continuity to the spare brass earthing point too.
Oil was ficked off the...
I'll check for continuity from the earth pin in the DRO to anything metal on the DRO. It's mainly plastic. I expect there's a ring of metal on the input sockets. Is it an issue for you?
Not really. It was a moulded plug and I'd have to tear it apart to check, or use a multimeter which I didn't. I think it has an earth, it uses a metal tab, I think. It wouldn't have been earthed if I'd continued to use that cheap Chinese all-plastic adapter though.
I'll check it out later.
Some experimentation tonight with the bits I've bought.
This is my spare scale. It's wired to fit the JCS 900 series of DROs and not my new one.
This is the wiring scheme for it.
There's a ground wire soldered directly to the metal part of the socket.
Wiring translated from one to the...
Just arrived. The package made an ominous clanking sound but it was just the metal arm. Everything seems fine. It was adequately packaged. Screen is really bright which I like. Photo doesn't do it justice. Comes with a moulded two pin plug so that wants changing or use an adaptor. It's a PC...
My DRO is due to arrive today. Attempted delivery yesterday, but I was out. It was ordered on the 01/04/2024 so I think that is good going from China.
I have ordered some of those screw connecting serial connectors from Ebay. Supposed to be a UK seller but we shall see. Tracking info suggests...
Nice. Did you get the right one? It's not made really clear. There's a choice between the two axis and the three axis. The three axis costs a little more than the two. It's the colour selection bit in the middle of the screen grab. The three axis is selected in my screen grab and the two axis is...
I've just tried the link I posted again and it didn't seem to mind. Says ships to UK. I clicked buy it now and it took me to the payment screen. I didn't want to try any further.
At what point did it throw up the message?
None. I've bought a fair bit off Aliexpress recently. You pay vat up front to Aliexpress who pass it on. No silly courier charges or admin fees as it is all paid for.
Not sure what the case is if you spend hundreds on an item. It might attract duty then. I've bought eight separate items from...
