Hi, A friend has microlight aircraft, which he keeps in a small hangar. The hangar is not connected to the mains and needs some work doing on the building. So he is considering buying a small generator to power items such as Kettle, small power tools, e.g. electric drill, angle grinder.
Any...
Thanks for all the replies. Noted the comment about a thin base. Now looking at the recycled IBC's for the same supplier. A lot cheaper and I can hide the basket look with fence panels. Just need to sort out with neighbour to get it into my enclosed rear garden. Will need to get help from sons...
I am thinking of buying one of these recycled tanks to use to collect rainwater for the garden. It will need to be about 30 cms off the ground to get a watering can under the tap.

What would be the best base to build to put it at the required...
I have just started using my 185 to repair a 2CV. I am only an amateur and inexperienced welder. But the welder is brilliant, it just works well particularly on the lower settings. A good buy and well worth the money.
Also he wasn't the first with the central steering position and two seats behind. Check the net for the car

I thought it was a good programme.

Thanks for all the replies.
I bought a small chop saw, Evolution Fury 3, cut all the pallet planks up this afternoon. A good choice and did the job well.
Thanks to all for the advice

With the arrival of no.3 grandchild my wife has decided we need a bigger car. Our Suzuki wagon R only has two rear seat belts. So Berlingo or Kangoo - i see lots of these traveling in France and the practicality appeals to me. Need a high seating position owing to my wife's' bad back. With the...
Hi, trying to remove the oil filter from my Fiat Ducato motorhome. Problem is - can't get the oil filter off. Using a strap wrench with a 1/2 inch rachet handle. Its so tight that it is squeezing the filter.
So any suggestions eg do jubilee clips tightened around the filter work then tap...
I have been practicing using some 5mm steel, but the wire keeps burning back to the tip - is more wire speed needed. For this steel does the end of the tip need to be level with the end of the gas shroud or should the shroud be pulled out so that the tip is inside. (Portamig 185) hope this makes...
Thanks for the replies, I'm going to make a chassis mounted frame for a bike rack for the motorhome. I think I'll get some 0.8 mm and after this job keep it in case of any more projects requiring thicker metal.
Thanks
Hi, only a casual welder but is it possible to weld up to 5 mm steel angle with a Portamig 185 and using 0.6 wire. Only I don't want to buy 0.8 because I would never finish a 5 kg roll. Welder purchased to fix thin French steel on a 2cv
Thanks

A bit of a basic question but: Thinking of making a bike rack for the camper. For steel box section is it OK to join two pieces at 90 degrees or should I form a joint as is done with wood. This would give more welded area and then I suppose stronger.
Regarding other comments in the brew room...
I'm fixing the floor pans in a 2cv. The replacements would be thin steel (0.8mm) and will rot out again in no time.
Therefore, I am going to have a go at making my own using 1.2mm or even 1.6mm since they are basically flat panels.. Using box section for the strengtheners underneath. For...
