Gareth have you cut up a 6R4 wishbone? about 40mm from the spherical bearing the end that attaches to the hub there is a weld have they been strenghtened along the weld by another tube under the steel fabricated plate? Sam
I take it these are small items If you google sweeny kincaid they have a base through Glasgow way and have auctions every other week/month may be your best bet for something decent. or loook up a local fab shop they should be able to fold to your drawing but would be better to buy in bulk.
He is a wee nutter likes showing off in front of the girls, he has a permanent reminder from January the night we had the heaviest snow fall. He was fooling about with his brother and hit the corner of the kitchen chair and split the eyelid open the only good thing about that was no one was on...
Bad start to the Bank holiday weekend. My youngest son Liam fell out of a tree last night Friday and ended up in A&E luckily only slight soft tissue damage but you can see from the markings he was lucky to get of with only that. He is feeling rather sorry for himself today but hopefully he will...
Update on Metro fabricated up front cradle and wishbone mounts have tacked it in place also made mods to new front panel for large radiator and scoops for the brakes.
Hi sorry missed your post, no have not fitted the solatube yet! As for a discount just be up front I was talking away to the guy we got onto the subject of flue's as I was telling him the tube would be fitted when I was installing the flue in the music room. He then said they also did flues at a...
Are you using an air prodicts bottle? I used the std gauges for ages but changed over to the bayonet fitment which is set to 8lts min for tig and 10ltr a minute for mig, the wee flow thingy with the floaty ball is a flow meter and can be fixed to the regulator and set upright.
Hi fickle, I am old school the term I would use is Braze the name has changed but nothing else it is a prosess using oxy acetylene and heating the material below the melting point and using a brass filler rod to form a fillet when done properly you can achieve a lovely herringbone look to the...
On the Taipan build I used tig on the mid frame, the uprights for the front hubs, sprocket and disc carrier all the rest I used mig. The R82S frame was all tig welded but that took and age to do, so if it was for commercial pourpose it would be mig unless the client would be willing to pay extra...
Take your time do a complete build first then strip down and give it a good coat of paint or a powder coat makes all the difference. Tack the chassis up first before a final weld saves a lot of time cutting out things if they are not correct it is easier using plans as it has all been done...
I quite fancy having a look at the Roger Albert Clark historic rally sounds like a good deal a couple of us were talking about following it for a weekend heading down to Scarborough.
Lovely countryside! we have them training through the glen where I live, when the RAF got their new euro fighter one of my sons was off school we were heading up the drive to get the rest of the kids from the school bus. The jet passed just in front of us on a tilt we could see the pilot clearly...
Yes you will need filler rod there is a rad on the corners of the box section, I would mig that if you have a mig or stick weld it would be a lot quicker.
Weld a nut to a plate and then use the bolt to level the bench you could also use another nut for a locking nut. If you want more contact with the floor weld a disc to the bolt. May help give you a better "EARTH"
For a chassis jig I prefer a low table around 450 high for my welding table it stands 900 high and I use a wooden stool if I need to sit at that. Both have a 12mm thick plate on top.
The main problem I see with things being too well braced if you look at the damage that had occured witht he knock it got the front cradle crumpled. if things were stiff at the front the crumple zone would be moved further back more than likely causing more damage.
If you look at the bracing...
