Hi, I run a 160amp EWM inverter from a 6.5 kw Petrol Honda generator in my van. To get the inverters full performance EWM recommend a 9.5 kw power supply. I find I can weld up to 130 amps (3.23 or 1/8 rods, 6013 & 7018) with out any issues. Also I can just about lift that size of generator in...
Lincoln ranger issues.
Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice regarding my ranger 305. I fired it up this morning To complete a job on a 4 foot excavator bucket. About an hour in I lost welding power, I had machine in wire feed mode and was using an Ln25 across the arc feeder. I changed to...
Don't know if this is an option for you, but I remember the first time I fitted a full length shelter deck to a fishing boat, she was about 50" I didn't have a fancy mig. I hired a top of range synergic kemppi, fitted with a 10 metre weld snake torch from Macgregors in Inverness and 5 x 1.2mm...
Yes, brilliant stuff, and very enjoyable reading, well done to all who contributed, I have just read it and am now going to read it again. I have a Fronius TPS270 alloy edition mig, but have always just used the automatic settings, It welds well but Im sure some of you guys could make it sing...
Hi Welderstudy, I'm sorry and surprised to hear this, as someone who took part in your testing i can't see why any genuine welders would be against this. I don't see how there can be misconceptions as this has been well covered on this site and the Uk welder site. I would hope there is not some...
Hi Rrunnach,
A sampling tool was used to take a scraping, i think there is a timescale she has to process sample, I'm sure welderstudy will confirm, but that was already suggested on Uk welder, I think she said it would take 6 months to get ethical approval and then they would have to ship the...
Hi Welderstudy, how many more guys do you need, I will try and convince some of my SCOTTISH colleagues to travel the 600 odd miles to London as the english guys seem to have no interest in trying to live a bit longer or think your study may have ulterior motives
Regards Lincoln17
Hi all, I'm glad to see this has picked up a bit of interest, I went to London and was sampled, it took 1/2 an hour and Welder study paid me £200 for my trouble. Its for our own good and I would welcome anything that will improve our chances of survival! Couldn't believe the negativity earlier...
I would try Tracey tools, if you google them you will see they do a small metric set for £55. Sets from Presto or Dormer are much more expensive but they sometimes come up on flea bay and if your patient you may get lucky. The Tracey stuff I have bought has been ok.
Thanks lads, The Clanranald was knocked down Lionleg and has been rebuilt as a guest house, they have just extended the kitchen and the word is they are planning opening the resturant again, but not a watering hole.
I thought the study was a worthwhile one and I don't think it has to be guys who...
Thanks Lionleg, it was a fair journey, but it's good to see some civilisation now and again. I live in Mingarry which is a bit of a coincidence, if you do come back give me a shout and I'll buy you a beer. Also check before travelling, weather here has been dire for the last year and a half!!!
